Nigeria Win Copa Lagos Beach Soccer; Beat Brazil 9-4 In Final

It was sweet revenge of the defeat in the last Beach Soccer World Cup in Italy, as Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles beat their arch-rivals, Brazil 9-4 to win the maiden Copa Lagos Beach Soccer at the Eko Atlantic City, Bar Beach, Lagos Island on Sunday.

It was a thrilling and entertaining match watched by the Lagos State Commissioner for Sports, Enitan Oshodi, President of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Alhaji Aminu Maigari and a host of other sports personalities in the country.

Azeez Abu scored five goals for the Nigerian team, while captain Isiaka Olawale and Victor Tale scored two goals each.

Bruno Mendes scored two goals for Brazil, while Serginho and Marquinhos scored one goal each.

Earlier before Nigeria and Brazil tie, England woke up from their two straight defeats in the hands of Brazil (on Friday) and Nigeria (on Saturday) to beat South Africa 4-3.

Other dignitaries that graced the final ceremony were former Super Eagles’ skipper Austin Okocha, Managing Director of FCMB, one of the sponsors of the tournament, Ladi Balogun, former Eagles’ goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, former Nigerian internationals, Victor Ikpeba, Mutiu Adepoju, Henry Nwosu, Friday Elaho, Nollywood actor, Segun Arinze and Emma Okocha.
